EncounterSticks ™
These are similar to the original EncounterBats. However, there are two differences between them. First, is the handle that extends the full length of the foam in the EncounterStick. This makes the bat stiffer and does not allow the foam at the end of the bat to bend. This rigid design works to make the bat stronger for hitting pillows and other objects. Since many therapists have moved away from confrontational therapy and into ventilation therapy the bats get more wear and tear. In this technique the users do not hit people, but objects, such as pillows. The full length support of the longer handle makes the foam last much longer. Without the cushion effect of the flexible foam it is important that EncounterSticks are not used to hit people or animals.
The second difference from the EncounterBat is that the EncounterStick cloth cover is blue. This gives quick indication to users that it is not to be used on people or animals. Other than these two items, everything about the EncounterStick is identical to the EncounterBat. The newest version of the EncounterStick has an aluminum tube inside the plastic handle to make it stiffer and stronger. This makes the new EncounterStick a little heavier and increases its life.

Basic Slip Cover
This can be used on EncounterBats or EncounterSticks. The purpose of the Slip Cover is to have the bat make a louder “whomp” than the standard cover will produce when hitting a pillow, bed, or a chair. The Slip Cover is made of a stiff nylon material that will last a very long time. A simple drawstring makes it easy to attach the slip cover to the bat. Because the material is stiff and feels “harder” the Slip Cover should not be used to hit people or animals.

Slip Cover with Photo Holder
This is similar to the basic slip cover, except for a clear plastic section at the end, which lets you insert a photo or a drawing (up to 5” x 7”) to use as a target for you aggression. Since the material is the same as the Basic Slip Cover it should not be used to hit people or animals.
